World Wide Information Outlet has been providing FREE Content, articles and information to the online community since early 1997.
It began as a vision of owner, Angela Smith. "I was searching for free content myself and found lots of adult sites offering it, not exactly what I was interested in. I found lots of writers offering free content related to business (mostly online marketing) but because content was scarce, many of the business articles were re-used on every Web site and in many newsletters over and over. I remember receiving 4 different newsletters in two weeks and all four featured the same article on "marketing online". It was a pretty good article but I didn't need to read it four times. I decided then that there was a need for something new, something different, something FREE," Smith says.
"I envisioned a huge outlet where writers could showcase their talents and give something back to the online community by providing articles to newsletter editors and web site owners who desperately needed content to keep visitors returning for more. Finally, there would be a place where visitors could choose the types of articles they could use and not have to worry about getting individual permission from each author."
"Sure, there would be business articles, but we wouldn't stop there. There would be articles on health, sports, travel or pets and more. There were plenty of Web sites and newsletters out there on those subjects. Why couldn't those be offered too?"
So it was that World Wide Information Outlet was born. With only six writers and about 15 articles WWIO went online in Feburary 1997.
The press release that captured the attention of the media said "Web site solves number 1 problem for web site owners by offering free content". It was picked up by national and world wide newspapers and magazines like PC Today, Yahoo! Internet Life and Income Opportunities. Since then WWIO has been featured on radio, television, in college courses, in national seminars, in several books and on popular web sites like CNET's Builder.com.
Today WWIO offers hundreds of articles written by hundreds of writers from all over the world. We receive new articles everyday of the year, including Christmas.
The reason for our success is clear: We found a need and filled it...for free. Every article on WWIO is available to anyone who follows our simple guidelines:
- Leave the article intact. Don't alter it.
- Give credit where it's due. Leave the writers byline and biography intact.
- Give a small two line link back to WWIO
Angela Smith has seen her dream become reality and continue to grow beyond her expectations and WWIO has become a win-win opportunity for both writers and publishers.
